Lexmark Managed Print Services
Lexmark has more than 25 years experience in manufacturing, managing and servicing millions of output devices globally. We have adapted this experience to address the specific needs of the Healthcare sector and are really pleased to be the supplier of choice at Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust. We take pride in the success of this partnership with LWH to date, and our team will continue to work closely with LWH to deliver incremental gains in line with both your financial targets and digital roadmap as this develops.
LWH’s legacy fleet consisted of 50 different printer models from seven different manufacturers, creating an unnecessarily complex and disparate environment that was not only expensive, but complicated to manage. The lack of standardisation was also compromising output efficiencies and consequently, delaying vital processes.
Like other trusts, LWH also needed to respond to the NHS’ 2020 “Paperless Challenge”. As few hospitals can make the jump from paper-based processes to fully digital in one step, LWH turned to Lexmark to review their existing fleet, and suggest and implement a solution to support their journey.
From the outset it was obvious that LWH were interested in a long-lasting, trusted partnership with Lexmark. Using the global and industry specific knowledge from the Lexmark team, alongside the deep understanding of the specific needs of the trust and their staff—it was clear that the supplier relationship management was key to the success of the project.
Undertaking a transformational change project on this scale in a constantly changing environment and without comprising patient care, is no easy task. The strong leadership and regular communication kept the Lexmark team regularly informed and up to date on the LWH strategy and plans to ensure the success of the project.
Best practice MPS is not just about copiers and printers; it’s really about the trust staff and their ability to embrace and adhere to a trust wide print policy, which challenges and changes behaviours for more positive outcomes.
LWH staff were able to work closely with the Lexmark team to ensure the main focus of the project was to become more productive and efficient as well as reducing costs. Their approach to the project meant that the newly installed Lexmark MPS devices become productivity tools for better information access and the introduction of more productive digital processes. The project team at LWH worked with Lexmark and engaged each department individually in order to ensure specific requirements were captured, whilst delivering best value for the trust.
By optimising the LWH output environment, Lexmark could deliver cost savings in excess of 30%. Efficiency was also increased by the intuitive nature of Lexmark MPS, which includes proactive consumables management for the replenishment of supplies, and the fleet management capability through ongoing service reporting and governance. LWH plans to now use this project as a platform to adopt further “paper light” initiatives through a modular approach.
In addition, LWH is benefiting from the Lexmark Secure Print Management solution, ensuring printed output is only accessible to approved employees.
Lexmark were proud to nominate the LWH IT project team for a Excellence in Supply Award and were incredibly pleased when the judging panel awarded them with this well-deserved accolade.
